DragginMath: About Traditional Notation

In DragginMath, the focus is on operator trees and keyboard notation. But the ultimate goal is to help you learn traditional math notation. So it would be nice if DragginMath could show it to you.

On the Configuration ☰ screen, you can choose Traditional Text Off ◉ On. This causes traditional text to appear near the top of the screen when you enter an expression in keyboard notation in the Top Text.

You cannot interact with traditional text. It is for reading only.

When you touch a node in an operator tree, the corresponding symbol is highlighted in the traditional text, just as it is in the Top Text.

This is still a new feature. It may change significantly as development proceeds. At this point, no attempt is made to prevent the overlap of traditional text with operator trees, or to allow repositioning of traditional text.

Humans draw traditional notation beautifully with pen and paper, but rendering it on a computer is notoriously difficult. DragginMath does it quite well for the expressions you are likely to find in algebra books, and you can expect it to improve in the future for more exotic expressions. If you see something that doesn’t look right, please let us know so we can deal with your specific issue.
